Privacy policy
BootSelf AI ("BootSelf AI", "we") runs a service that helps you practice job interviews and improve your career profile. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions: [email protected].
What we collect
- Account data: your name, email address and a hashed password.
- Preparation profile: the role, level, search stage and interview date you tell us.
- Interview content: the questions you're asked, your typed or transcribed answers, code you write, scores, feedback and reports.
- Profile materials you submit: resumes (stored encrypted), GitHub usernames, portfolio URLs and LinkedIn text you paste.
- Billing data: your plan and payment status. Card details go directly to our payment processor, Stripe; we never see or store them.
- Usage and technical data: which features you use and when (first-party analytics; we don't use third-party trackers), plus standard server logs (IP address, browser type) used for security and rate limiting.
Voice
If you answer by voice, speech is converted to text by your browser's built-in speech recognition, which may be provided by your browser vendor under their own privacy terms. We receive and store only the resulting text, not audio.
How we use it
- To run interviews, generate feedback and reports, and track your progress.
- To provide your plan, process payments and enforce plan limits.
- To send service emails such as report-ready notices, receipts and account messages.
- To keep the service secure and to fix and improve it.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your interview answers or resumes to advertise to you.
Aggregated, de-identified analytics
To make interviews better for everyone, we combine results across many sessions into statistics that don't identify anyone — for example, how often a question leads to a follow-up, how well it separates stronger from weaker answers, and score distributions by role and level. We use these to choose better questions and to show you how your score compares with others preparing for the same role. These statistics contain no names, emails, answers or resumes, and comparisons are only shown when the group is large enough that no individual can be singled out.
AI processing
To generate questions, scores and feedback, the relevant parts of your interview and profile are sent to an AI model provider acting as our processor. We use providers whose terms do not allow them to use this data to train their models. AI feedback is advisory and can be wrong.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that help us run BootSelf AI — hosting, database, AI model providers, Stripe for payments and an email delivery provider — under contracts that limit their use of your data. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect users and the service.
International transfers
We and our providers may process data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account we permanently delete your interviews, reports, resumes and profile, and anonymize your account record. Payment records held by Stripe are kept as tax and accounting law requires.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or California's CCPA/CPRA), you can access, correct, export or delete your data, object to or restrict certain processing, and complain to your data protection authority. You can export or delete everything yourself from account settings, or email us. We don't sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences. We don't use advertising cookies.
Children
BootSelf AI is not intended for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Security
We encrypt data in transit, encrypt stored resumes at rest, hash passwords and limit access to production data. No system is perfectly secure; tell us at [email protected] if you find a problem.
Changes
If we make material changes we'll update this page and, where appropriate, email you before they take effect.
