AI mock interview for Technical Program Managers

Program sense, technical trade-offs and cross-team execution — practise running a messy, multi-team program out loud and see where your plan breaks.

Free 10-minute interview with a full report. Paid plans run full-length sessions.

Technical Program Manager interview questions you might get

A sample of the starting questions. The live interview follows up on your answer, so no two sessions go the same way.

  1. You are launching a feature that needs work from five teams in three time zones. How do you plan it?

What it tests: Program sense and dependency management.

  2. A critical dependency team says they will be six weeks late. What do you do?

What it tests: Risk response and trade-offs.

  3. Walk me through the architecture of a system you shipped and the biggest technical risk.

    What it tests: Technical depth.

  4. How do you decide what goes into a status report for executives?

What it tests: Communication and judgment.

  5. Tell me about a time two engineering leads disagreed on the approach. How did you resolve it?

What it tests: Influence without authority.

How a session works

About 20–30 minutes from setup to report. End any time and you still get feedback on what was covered.

  1. Set your target

Pick a role, level and stack. Add a job description or your resume if you want questions about your real projects.

  2. Answer live

Speak or type. The interviewer follows up on thin answers, raises the difficulty when you're doing well and switches to code when it fits.

  3. Read the notes

A report scores every competency, quotes the answers that cost you, and gives you a prep plan for the next session.

A report that quotes you, not a pat on the back

Every score links back to something you actually said.

  • Competency scores

Weighted to the role you picked, so a system design gap counts more for a senior backend role than for a frontend junior.

  • STAR check on every story

See which part of each behavioral answer was missing — usually the Result.

  • How you sounded

Filler words, hedging, "I" versus "we", and whether you cited real numbers — measured from your words, and compared between the first and second half of the interview.

  • A prep plan

The two or three things to practice next, and a skill graph that tracks them across sessions.

Questions

Is the TPM interview technical?

Yes, partly. Expect system design and architecture questions at a level where you can judge trade-offs and estimates — not to write production code.

How is a TPM interview different from a PM interview?

PM rounds focus on what to build and why; TPM rounds focus on how a complex program gets delivered across teams, on time, with risks managed.

Can I practise program sense questions?

Yes. The interviewer asks open program scenarios and follows up on dependencies, risks and milestones in your answer.
